The valley is where the photos spend most of their time: in two of them it is full of cloud, with red tin roofs in the foreground and a snow range standing above the white.
The room itself is earth-coloured, with a wooden ceiling and floor, wall lamps, a wooden cabinet and a small fan. Two beds are in view, each with a woven cover. One photo is taken from a raised sleeping platform with a wooden railing and a row of windows looking at the hills. The bathroom has striped brown and white tiles, a pedestal basin, an overhead shower and a grab rail by the toilet.
Safety in Almora
Leopards live in the forest around Almora: one that had been roaming the town's Police Line area for over a month was caged on 3 March 2026. Carry a torch for any walk after dark, and ask your host what the last stretch to the door is like at night before you book. The government medical college hospital and a base hospital are both in Almora, and from the Kasar Devi homes we list the nearest is 3.5 to 7.5 km away, so keep basic medicines in the room. Cash machines are in town, not on the hill.
